| Important news - summer playgroup starts Mon 19 July |
As you may know, we have traditionally had to stop playgroup over all school holidays as the Scout Hut is used by school holiday clubs at this time. We have found that in the summer break, this can feel like a long time to go without playgroup - especially as most other activity classes etc. seem to stop for the summer holidays too.
Therefore we are really pleased to announce that we've been able to set up a new playgroup to run on Monday mornings over the summer holidays at a new venue. The playgroup will start from Monday 19th July from 10.00-12.00, the new venue is the Tooting Triangle One O'Clock Club.
See here for a couple of maps:

We will provide a healthy snack for the children at around 11a.m. and cups of tea for parents and carers.
We also plan to have a sing-along at the end of the group as 'wind down' time so look forward to some Zoom, zoom, zoom and Sleepy Bunnies...
We hope to see you all over the summer. For those of you that can't make the playgroup on Monday mornings, don't forget we also have our Friday summer picnics - dates and venues are all in the latest issue of the magazine.
Here's to a great summer, and we will be in touch soon with more news regarding some more new initiatives at the club. |

| Why does WTC have coffee mornings? |
'Coffee mornings' sounds quite formal but really it is just the opposite - getting local twin mums together for a chat. The WTC coffee mornings (or afternoons) are a chance for people expecting twins and for parents of twins to meet up at the homes of other twin families, because cafe-based get togethers can present a unique set of challenges for twin mums, given we may have wider buggies (or more) in tow, not to mention the juggling act of breastfeeding twins out and about or keeping two energetic toddlers safe can be slightly tricky! WTC coffee mornings allow twin mums and mums-to-be a chance to meet up and swap stories and tips about how to care for, cope with and enjoy twins, in a relaxed home environment.
Mmm cake. When and where, please?
We try and have coffee mornings in all areas that the WTC covers, and attendees are generally parents or parents to be who live locally to the host. If there is not one in your area why not volunteer to host one? Coffee mornings are held every few weeks. Forthcoming dates can be found on the website, the magazine or in our weekly email updates . Please do contact the host in advance to check that the time and or date of the coffee morning has not changed and to let the host know that you are coming.
If you would like to discuss hosting a coffee morning please contact:

It really is a fantastic venue. It has a new improved playground area outside. There are cars, bikes and scooters to play on, a fantastic climbing frame and slide and a water table for water play so there’s lots of fun to be had. There’s also a shady area on the grass where we lay down mats and toys for the babies so we cater for all ages. |

| Update from Snong & Rayek |
Snong and Rayek are Cambodian twins sponsored by WTC. Their parents, Pary and Yimry, are both HIV+ and in the later stages of AIDS. Thankfully both boys are HIV negative. Our aim is to raise £350 a year to sponsor the family.
The latest report from Juana, our sponsored family’s Support Worker, tells us that the twins are at a local Christian primary school near their home. Unfortunately, Rayek has failed his first year but Snong has passed and is going in to the 2nd grade.
Despite the daily challenges faced by the family as a result of ill health and poverty they are happy and have a good positive attitude. The family have very little money so every penny we raise helps makes a difference to their lives. The money we raise goes directly to the family and is put towards food, clothing, school uniform and medicines.

| Buddying |
We have new members joining all the time and need volunteer buddies to pair them up with. Being a buddy to a new member need not be a big commitment, a few phone calls or emails, meeting up once or twice and being available to give a bit of advice and support.
Just remember how difficult those first few months with twins are and how much easier it is if there's someone around who knows what you are going through.
If you are interested in being buddy please contact Katie Dockray. |
